Clark T. Hartnett

Partner

Personal Injury, Real Estate Litigation Lawyer, North Vancouver, BC
Clark T. Hartnett is a litigation-focused lawyer who advises individuals and businesses on complex, high-stakes disputes.

His practice spans a broad range of civil and commercial matters, including business and shareholder conflicts, contractual disputes, commercial tenancy matters, foreclosure proceedings, real estate and construction disputes, estate litigation, and personal injury claims. He is frequently retained in matters that do not fit neatly within a single area of law—where success depends on strategic clarity, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate overlapping legal and factual issues.

Clark represents clients at all stages of the dispute process, from early-stage advisory work through to trial and appeal. He has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the Court of Appeal, and is known for developing clear, focused strategies tailored to the realities of each case.

Clark is focused on outcomes. He works closely with clients to resolve disputes efficiently where possible, while remaining prepared to pursue litigation decisively when it serves their interests. He approaches each matter with a collegial and pragmatic mindset, while being fully prepared to advance his clients’ positions firmly when required. His background in marketing and technical sales contributes to a commercially grounded perspective, complemented by a firsthand understanding of the litigation process and its broader impact on clients.

Clark’s deliberately broad practice allows him to navigate disputes without the constraints of a narrow specialty. This enables him to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic angles that may be less visible in more siloed approaches, particularly in complex or unconventional matters.

He is a partner at Lakes, Whyte LLP, a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. Clark also serves as a director of the North Shore Neighbourhood House, reflecting his commitment to the local community.

“Clark can help you navigate through any issues or disputes you might have in any dispute including personal injury and ICBC matters, construction disputes and wills and estates law.”
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Clark worked in a marketing and technical sales position. After being struck by a car as a pedestrian and going through a lawsuit, Clark changed careers and entered the field of law. Clark’s experience dealing with his injuries and litigation give him insight and understanding into the stresses and struggles that accompany the litigation process.
